The Internet is a wonderful tool. With it, you can find information quickly on a wide variety of subjects, but the challenge is to find accurate infomation. The following are sites the library has found to be both accurate and helpful.
AVAILABLE NOW: MyLibraryDigitalVideo, ReferenceUSA Business Databases, Rosetta Stone Language Courses & the LearningExpressLibrary Test Preparation Courses
These four new remote services are available to Smyrna library cardholders. These can be accessed at home or work with passwords and pins from the library.
On-demand video is available from MyLibraryDV. Movies, how-to, travel, documentaries, and food videos are just some of the programs you can watch online. Get your user barcode and PIN at the Smyrna Library and logon today to http://mldv.permissiontv.com/channels/smyrna_ga. For more information about MLDV go to http://www.permissiontv.com/faq.
We've also added the ReferenceUSA online database. ReferenceUSA is a business database that provides critical information on 15,000,000 businesses and 210,000,000 individuals. ReferenceUSA is great business and marketing tool that can be strategically searched to provide you with the information you need to make your business more successful..
Need to learn a language? Rosetta Stone has been the leading source for language instruction since 1991. Now you can take classes online at home for free. Courses are available online in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Russian.
Studying for exams? LearningExpressLibrary has online test preparation courses for everything from elementary school skills improvement to the GRE. The courses aren't just limited to academic tests. There are preparation guides for several careers including civil service, real estate and the armed forces.
Doing your family history and looking for that elusive link? Proquest Obituaries has over 10,500,000 obituaries and death notices in full image format from seven major newspapers (including the Atlanta Journal Constituion). An obituary is often the only biographical sketch that was ever devoted to an individual and can provide valuable clues to genealogical research.
There are two other online subscription services available for your use in the library. Westlaw can help you research Georgia law. Ancestry.com is your guide to genealogy research.
Stop by the library and check us out. There's a world of resources available at the Smyrna Public Library.
